Patterns in history from Eclipse returning 15 February 2018

The solar eclipse Saros 150 returns 15 February 2018, inaugurates 24 August 2018 with its energy of Invisibilities, as a wave that comes, goes and returns making invisible whole layers in the structure of things, tangible or intangible.

Patterns of this energy can be found in history, whether it’s by natural effect of these invisibilities, or, by express intention to make them invisible, just as it’s written in the Treaty of Seville, signed in 1729:

“THEIR most Serene Majesties the King of Great Britain, the most Christian King, and the Catholic King, desiring, with equal earnestness, not only to renew and bind more closely their ancient friendship, but likewise to remove whatever might hereafter disturb it, to the end that being united in sentiments and inclination, they may for the future act in every thing as having but one and the same view and interest…”

Although, making invisible does not necessarily imply destroying. As the mentioned treaty states, it’s sufficient ‘to remove’ that which ‘disturbs’, or, adapt it according to what’s desired.

As it happened in 1729 with the English translation of “Histoires ou contes du temps passé, avec des moralités” (“Stories or Fairy Tales from Past Times with Morals”) published in 1679.

Invisibilities even in the title, for later on it will be known only by its second title: “Contes de Ma Mére l’Oye” (“Mother Goose Tales”).

Even though before the 18th century, “Mother Goose Tales” spread well beyond the French borders, the English translation marks invisibilities for the coming centuries, among them, the French origin of the tales disappeared as people made them their own; French customs in the tales were adapted into British ones; and, its transformation from histories from times past into fairy tales and then into children’s tales. (See more on translation effects).

In the near future, Mother Goose would also become invisible due to each tale of those published originally by Perrault would be known by itself: “The Sleeping Beauty”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Cinderella”, “The Master Cat, or Puss in Boots”, “Donkeyskin”, “Hop o’ My Thumb”, “Diamonds and Toads”, “Riquet with the Tuft”, “Bluebeard”.

In the 19th century, German publications by the Grimm brothers incorporate Perrault’s tales, though in spite of citing his authorship, for many people they would remain as the tales from the Grimm brothers.

In the 20th century, Walt Disney with cinema versions would remain as the origin reference, with their own adaptations and versions.

Even in the 21st century, new cinema versions can be mentioned, such as “Cinderella”, and, “The Sleeping Beauty” through a different “Maleficent”. Or, the versions for the TV series “Once Upon a Time” where the tales are adapted or interlaced.

Tales from Perrault publication ended up as classics in children’s literature and, folklore tales of histories from times past remained invisible, as well as elements that could have been taken from previous works such as the “Pentamerone”, or, “Tale of Tales” by the Italian Gianbattista Basile, other from Pierre Camus, Jean de la Fontaine, Cupid and Psyche from Apuleyo, amongst other.

There are many other invisibilities coming from these tales, starting by the fact that originally they were written for adults of the elite and not for children, or, the utilization of these stories to transmit, warn or gossip about transgressions from the society of the time, either as denunciation, protest, but specially as the passing on of new social standards, disguised under the happenings of the characters and morals.

Besides that, the role of the characters in these tales; the explicit violence or the one removed depending on the version; changes introduced in the perception of fairies; subliminal messages; histories behind the magical objects; analysis, research, and studies on the tales; other relations with the returns of this eclipse, with history itself; and, so many, many other invisibilities, remain in turn invisible from this article for lack of time and because they would require a much deeper work.
